Software is a set a of instruction, data or program used to operate computer and execute specific task. It is the opposite of hardware, Software is a generic term used to refer application script and program that run on a device.
We can say software is varieable part of computer. that means we See or touch the computer but we can't tough the Software. Hardware is incompleted absent of software: The combination of Software & hardware makes a computer.
There are mainly three types of software :
System software :
System Software is the most important type of software required to administer the resources of the computer system.
System software runs and functions internally with application software and hardware. Moreover, it works as a linking interface between a hardware device and the end-user.
System software runs in the background and manages all functioning of the computer itself. It is called Low-Level Software as it runs at the most basic level of computer and is usually written in a low-level language. As soon as we install the operating system on our device, it gets automatically installed on the same device.
System software helps to generate the user interface and allows the operating system to interact with the computer hardware.
Application software :
The term “application software” refers to software that performs specific functions for a user. When a user interacts directly with a piece of software, it is called application software. The sole purpose of application software is to assist the user in doing specified tasks. Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as popular web browsers like Firefox and Google Chrome, are examples of application software. It also encompasses the category of mobile apps, which includes apps like WhatsApp for communication and games like Candy Crush Saga. There are also app versions of popular services, such as weather or transportation information, as well as apps that allow users to connect with businesses. Global Positioning System (GPS), Graphics, multimedia, presentation software, desktop publishing software, and so on are examples of such software.
Utility Software:
The utility software is System software that help to maintain the proper and smooth functioning of a computer system. Utitity software performs certain tasks like virus detection, istallation and unistallation, data backup, deletation of unwanted file, ete.
Some example are antivirus software, file management, comparession tools, disk management tools,ete.

1. Antivirus : A virus is a malicious software that enters in the system along with a host program. Moreover, it multiplies with time and makes several Copies which in turn slow down and corrupts the system.
2. File magement system : These utility software are used to manage file of the computer system. Since files are an important part of the system as all the data Stored in the files.
3. Compression tools: An important part of a computer is storage space. It is very important to maintain this storage. Therefore, we use utility software to compress big files and decrease their size.
4. Disk management tools: These utility Software are used to manage data on disks. Morever, they perform functions like partitioning device, management tools are minitool Partitions wizard etc...
5. Backup utility : This utility Softwar helps to backup the files, folders, databases, or completete disk backup refer to debucating the disk information so that the data can be restere if any data lose happen.
